Google explains how author pages can help Google’s new search engine strategy with an article. According to it, Google is taking steps to minimize the effect author searches can have on rankings.

One of those steps is to provide “authorized authors” with a special page in their Google blog.

The article goes on to say that Google’s efforts do not amount to author devaluation. Rather, these are designed to focus on improving the quality of results by focusing on authors as opposed to search terms.

Google is also making more of an effort to give organic ranking to pages containing links from authorized sites.
